The Cocoon has an awesome warmth-to-weight ratio without compromising on comfort, making it awesome for lightweight adventures. Bags in this series are available in three temperature ratings (-5, -8 and -11°C ISO 23537.1 limit of comfort), and small, regular and large sizes. The 10-denier Vapour Vent V2 fabric used in the shell and lining is ‘downproof by construction’, offering exceptional breathability, natural water repellency and durability. The generous mummy shape allows wriggle room, while the Vertical-V baffles and dual draught tubes keep you warm. The full-length YKK #5 locking zip opens from the foot for ventilation, while the anti-snag slider combines with a protective draft tube to stop jamming.

FEATURES
  • Generous mummy shape maximises thermally efficiency without restricting movement or comfort
  • Box-wall baffles give maximum thermal efficiency
  • Vertical-V baffling system reduces down migration, keeping it trapped where you need it most
  • Differentially cut baffles promote full and complete lofting of down
  • Large foot-box reduces down compression while giving enough height for your feet and space to wriggle your toes
  • The contoured full hood encloses your head, cinching tight while leaving enough space for your nose and mouth
  • Hood and draught tubes baffle integrate to prevent warmth escaping
  • A draught tube along the zip insulates the zipper area, keeping warmth in

  • Selecting a zip side is easy: when lying in a sleeping bag, a left-hand zip (LH) is on your left side
  • Joined at the zip: full-length zips allow models with compatible left and right zips to be zipped together
  • Hydrophobic Down repels water, helping down stay lofty in all conditions
  • Your choice of down: ethically-sourced Hydrophobic Down in either 700-750 loft, or lighter (but just as warm) 800-850 loft
  • Water-resistant thread is used to make a durable, well-sealed sleeping bag

FEMALE AND MALE RATINGS
ISO 23537-1: INDEPENDENTLY TESTED TEMPERATURE RATINGS

All ONE PLANET sleeping bags are temperature rated in accordance with ISO 23537-1. This is the only globally recognised standard for the temperature testing of sleeping bags, and gives ratings for both females and males. Sleeping bags tested to the International Organisation for Standardisation 23537-1 (Requirements for sleeping bags) allow users to make informed, educated and accurate decisions.

The ISO 23537-1 testing methods allows objective comparisons of the warmth of different shapes (mummy, tapered rectangular and rectangular), sizes (small, regular and large) and how this translates into warmth for both females and males. When reading the temperature rating information, the ’Comfort’ rating gives an accurate figure for the lower limit of comfort for a standard female, while the ‘Limit’ is an accurate gauge of the lowest limit of comfort for a standard male.

Not all manufacturers test to this standard, nor give information about how they arrive at their temperature ratings. As a result, care should be taken when comparing claims of warmth.

BAFFLE CONSTRUCTION

ONE PLANET baffle technology maximises thermal efficiency. The Vertical-V baffle system uses vertical and V-baffles to keep the lofty down in its precise location, no matter how you wriggle and roll. Box wall baffles connect the outer shell and internal fabric, creating 3D chambers that promote lofting, aid even insulation and stop draughts. The differential cut also assists lofting: the internal fabric is cut narrower than the outer shell, making the bag’s inner circumference smaller than its outer.

ZIPS

Every detail counts. ONE PLANET use YKK #5 locking zips with an anti-snag slider. The anti-snag covers make jamming zips a thing of the past, while the YKK #5 zip is more reliable, durable and lasts longer than lower-gauge zips. Using a locking slider stops the zip from creeping open, so it will stay where you want it to for a good night’s sleep.

VAPOUR VENT V2

The Vapour Vent (V2) fabrics are lightweight, breathable nylon with C0 environmentally-friendly water-repellent treatment that promotes hands-free moisture management. The smooth fabrics are light and warm to the touch, ideal for use on multi-day journeys. The tight weave and high thread count ensures they are ‘downproof by construction’. The majority of bags use the silky, light, 10-denier version both inside and out, while some use the more durable 20-denier option.

HYDROPHOBIC DOWN

All ONE PLANET down has been treated with a hydrophobic water repellency application. This causes the down to repel water rather than absorb it, minimising clumping and helping the down in your sleeping bag stay dry and lofty. Hydrophobic Down allows your sleeping bag to dry quicker and stay warm for longer, and is especially important for bags used on multiday journeys or in wet conditions.

DOWN DISTRIBUTION

In ONE PLANET sleeping bags, 55 per cent of the down fill is on the top and 45 per cent is on the bag’s base. ONE PLANET selected this distribution of down after carefully considering how real people move and sleep – to work in real life! This down distribution ensures you stay warm in every position, preventing a cold back as you roll, wriggle and move.

PREMIUM LOFT

The quality of down used in a sleeping bag makes a huge difference to its warmth, weight, durability and compactness, as well as the loft recovery of the fill. ONE PLANET offer two types of premium loft.
700-750 loft Hydrophobic Down is the best value for weight and warmth.
800-850 loft Hydrophobic Down is the premium choice – a must for the gram counters.

ETHICALLY-SOURCED DOWN

Quality threads, twin needles, bar tacks for reinforcement and strength. Non-crack nylon buckles that bend rather than break. Durable, chunky YKK zips. The water-resistant webbing used on load-carrying straps means you won’t be given the slip. ONE PLANET consider every detail, creating big differences in use.

FILLED IN MELBOURNE

ONE PLANET down sleeping bags are hand-filled to order, in their Melbourne factory – usually the day after the order is placed! ONE PLANET have been filling their sleeping bags in Australia for more than 40 years: it’s the best way to ensure premium-quality, freshly-made bags. They can personally embroider every stuff sack. It brings ONE PLANET great joy to make your bag as unique as you are.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

ONE PLANET design innovations have led the way since 1980, both locally and globally.
